It’s Monday again, so here’s the winner for the dumbest or most insane thing I’ve seen this week: ghosts blamed for causing homosexuality.
Science writer Rolf Degen tweeted this last week, and it just.. it’s amazing:
Here is an innovative new theory about the origins of homosexuality, by the "Spiritual Science Research Foundation". https://t.co/C9zcUggTSH pic.twitter.com/LefJUmIeOt

If that’s not coming through for you, the tweet reads “Here is an innovative new theory about the origins of homosexuality, by the “Spiritual Science Research Foundation”,” followed by a link and a screenshot of some of their text.
I mean anything that begins with the text “the main reason behind the gay orientation of some men is that they are possessed by female ghosts” has got to be accurate, right? Of course, if being possessed by a female ghost makes you gay, it must take a whole freaking legion of them to make you trans.
But hey — there’s a cure! According to their website, the 85% of gayness caused by ghostly possession can be cured by holding your hands in a certain way:
Just “join the tips of [your] thumb and index finger with slight pressure using [your] thumb. Keep the rest of the fingers straight as much as possible. Duration: Daily till the homosexual tendency goes away. Generally, the mudra should be done continuously for 45 min. It can be done for longer duration also.”
Aaaaand I’m done. Just chew on that for a bit, everybody. Happy Monday.
